Kit for the Birds of a Feather shawl by Andrea Mowry. Please note that this kit will be dyed to order, and will dispatch within two weeks from purchase.

This shawl uses 2 skeins of a 4ply weight yarn, and one skein of a silk/mohair lace weight yarn. If you find mohair irritating at all, you could substitute it with Suri Silk Cloud, however you would need one extra skein as the meterage is shorter. If you would prefer the Suri, please email me at thefibrefox@gmail.com and I will create a custom listing for you.

The yarns in this kit are our Merino Singles and Fluff bases. The fingering weight yarn is 100% merino. The single-ply gives this yarn a silky looking finish that makes the colours shine. Due to the single-ply and lack of nylon, this yarn isn’t durable enough for socks. However, it makes stunning shawls as it has a lovely drape and a beautiful stitch definition which works particularly well for brioche and lace patterns. It also pairs wonderfully with either of our fluffy laceweight yarns.

100% Merino

100g skein: 366metres

Fluff is a laceweight yarn made of a blend of 72% kid mohair and 28% silk. On its own, or held with another yarn, this base is a showstopper. Beautifully soft, Fluff has an ethereal halo that the mohair provides, and the silk core provides its strength.

72% Kid Mohair, 28% Silk

50g skein: 420 metres

Hand washing is recommended to keep the colours of hand-dyed yarn vibrant and beautiful. Hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild wool wash.

This kit contains the yarn needed to knit this project, however the pattern is not included but can be found on Andrea Mowrys website or Ravelry store.
